Jasbir Kaur

After gaining extensive experience working within the Commercial Litigation Departments of two magic circle firms in the City of London, she qualified as a solicitor. She also successfully headed the Litigation Departments in three London firms and obtained her Higher Rights of Audience qualifying as a Solicitor Advocate. She then qualified as an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore and was admitted in 2010. She has now gained nine years’ experience in both the fields of Civil and Commercial Litigation. She is a keen advocate who regularly attends Court to represent her clients and regularly advised commercial clients in Singapore as to commercial disputes, international arbitration matters and negotiating joint venture agreements. Notable Cases - Acted on behalf of the Marlborough Gallery in defending a very substantial undue influence and breach of fiduciary duty claim brought by the estate of the artist Francis Bacon: Clarke v Marlborough Fine Art Ltd (No 2) [2002] 1 WLR 1731 and Clarke v Marlborough Fine Art Ltd (No 3) [2002] EWHC 11. The claim was settled shortly before a three month trial was due to commence; - Acted on behalf of a commercial client with a £23 million property portfolio who issued proceedings against a leading bank in the UK relating to a hedge fund dispute in respect of the mis-selling of hedging of structured collars & IRSAs worth approximately £800,000.00. The claim was eventually settled when the bank offered redress by suspending all payments due under the collar; - Recently instructed by a Singapore based media company in preparing numerous joint venture agreements to which UK based experts were privy to. The joint venture itself was complex due to the number of experts involved due to her client providing business advice in conferences due to take place at various locations across Europe; & - Acting on behalf of a leading media company in respect of a trademark infringement claim worth approximately SG$500,000 in which our client is seeking damages and consequential losses for breaches of various service agreements.
